Burger King's global pricing follows a clear pattern: markets with lower labour costs and weaker purchasing power sit at the bottom of the ranking, while high-wage economies in Scandinavia, Australia and Southeast Asian city-states top it. Sweden at $7.92 for a Whopper versus Egypt at $1.95 is a 4× gap driven almost entirely by structural differences in operating costs — the burger itself is identical. The US at $6.49 sits above the global midpoint, reflecting how significantly American fast food prices have risen since 2020.
Egypt has the cheapest Burger King prices globally on a PPP-adjusted basis, with a Whopper costing around $1.95 USD equivalent. Pakistan ($2.08) and Nigeria ($2.27) follow. These prices reflect significantly lower local wages and operating costs rather than a discount from Burger King — the burgers are priced appropriately for local purchasing power.
Sweden has the most expensive Burger King prices globally, with a Whopper costing around $7.92 USD equivalent. Singapore ($7.66) and UAE/Hong Kong ($7.46) follow. High labour costs, strong currencies and expensive real estate in these markets drive prices up.
In most markets, Burger King and McDonald's are priced very closely — typically within $0.50 of each other for flagship burgers. The Whopper ($6.49 in the US) is slightly more expensive than the Big Mac ($5.99) but both chains price competitively against each other in every market they share.
Burger King operates in over 100 countries globally. Our ranking covers 34 of the largest and most tracked markets where we have reliable pricing data.
The Whopper is priced relative to local purchasing power in each market. In countries like Egypt, Pakistan and Vietnam, lower average wages mean lower operating costs for Burger King — staff, rent and utilities all cost less, allowing significantly lower menu prices. On a PPP-adjusted basis, the Whopper is roughly the same 'expense' relative to local incomes across most markets.
