PriceMyMeal ("we", "our", "the site") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
Without an account: We do not collect any personal information. Your watchlist, compare lists, and theme preference are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
With an account: If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your authentication provider. This is handled by Clerk (our authentication provider). Your watchlist, compare lists, and preferences are synced to your user profile so they work across devices.
Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — page views, popular chains and countries, session duration, and traffic sources. Google Analytics may use cookies. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.
Price submissions: If you submit a price correction via the "Price?" button, we collect the submitted price, a photo, and optionally your name and email, used solely to verify and update our price database.
How we use your data
Your account data is used solely to provide the sync and personalisation features you've opted into by signing in. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing purposes.
Advertising — Google AdSense
PriceMyMeal displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page. For more information on how Google uses data when you use our site, see How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites.
EU/EEA visitors will be shown a consent prompt before personalised ads are served. If you decline, non-personalised ads may still be shown.

PriceMyMeal uses the following cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential cookies — authentication session cookies set by Clerk when you sign in.
- Preference storage — your dark/light mode preference and local watchlist are stored in localStorage (not sent to any server).
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to measure site usage.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to serve relevant advertisements. These may track your browsing across other sites. Manage via Google's Ads Settings.
Third-party services
Google AdSense — serves advertisements and may use cookies for ad personalisation. Google Privacy Policy.

Clerk (authentication) — processes sign-in data. Clerk Privacy Policy.
Google / Apple (OAuth sign-in) — we receive only the basic profile information you authorise during sign-in.
Cloudflare Pages (hosting) — serves the website. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the user menu. Without an account, no personal data is stored on our servers. If you're in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data under GDPR. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Data security
All connections to PriceMyMeal are encrypted via HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Clerk, which provides industry-standard security. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely through Google/Apple OAuth.
Children's privacy
PriceMyMeal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
